Open 365 days a year: The House Reef of the Coraya Divers
![]() |
We are proud to call one of the most beautiful and unique bays in the whole of Egypt our house reef. The Coraya Bay spreads wide facing North-East. This prevents strong currents and high waves from reaching the bay. That's why the beautifully vegetated Northern Reef as well as the attractively diverse Southern Reef can be dived into all 365 day of the year. Red warning flags flapping in the sea breeze at the end of the jetty 250 days a year belong to the next-door hotel. Their diving points often end at the unsecured outside reef.

Of course, we want to make our guests stay at the base as comfortable as possible. That job goes to our devoted helper Mr Nice as well as the team at the jetty who make sure there are always enough air tanks and lead weights provided for the divers.

This primitive means of transportation spares the sun worshippers at the beach both fuel fumes and engine noise. Many guests take a picture of Mr Nice home with them as a funny memento of their holiday
The jetty was arranged in such a way that it offers optimal conditions for divers and snorkellers. Through separate entry points there is enough room for everyone to prepare themselves for their own underwater adventure without too much fuss.
The hotel safety team is always watching out for the swimmers and snorkellers whilst offering guidance and looking after the reef.

For the snorkellers and non-swimmers there is a big observation platform available. Early birds are often lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins at the bay between 7 and 10 in the mornings.
Sometimes even manta rays, dolphins and manatees swim into the protected bay and always excite our guests giving them something to talk about for days.

Further details will be given in the orientation part. For example, what different options for diving at the house reef there are, or how the dinghies are to be used. Of course, there are always surprisingly good tips and tricks from our diving pros. All questions that you might still have will be answered here as well.. |

After that, everyone heads together towards the jetty. Here is where many helping hands wait on stand by to supply divers with air tanks and lead weights. |
After a quick safety check there is nothing else standing in the way between you and the sea! The less daring, the children and the older divers can use our stairwell for easier access.

Since the entry points are located inside a protected inlet at the reef, you can prepare yourself for the descent into the water calmly and undisturbed - Either here or at one of our dive spots. These will lead you directly to our underwater platform at 4 metres below the surface.
The 3 x 8 metre big platform is ideal for one last quick orientation before your very first dive, a chance to let you adjust your lead weights (extra ones are available in the box at the platform), etc. Additionally, you can briefly repeat exercises and beef up important skills such as "mask clearing". The next step is the first guided dive at the house reef.

During the first dive at the house reef, our guides monitor your air consumption, give you important tips and hints and reveal for you the well-hidden secrets of the bay. |

Our diving pros plan the dive so that when the air drops off to 50 bar at the pressure gauge, our platform or some buoys will always be nearby. At 5-metre depth, we will exercise a safety stop. Then it goes on up the big ascent stairwell back to the jetty.

This is where our helpers will be waiting on stand by to take your air tanks and lead weights off. For your own weight strap belts or lead pockets you are free to use the available lockers.
Divers with more than 25 logged dives in their logbooks may dive at the house reef at any time between 9 am and 4.30 pm, provided that they do this after the orientation and with a Buddy Team.
The boat of the house reef shuttles all day long between the jetty and the Northern and Southern parts of the reef and can be used by our guests free of charge.
The diving possibilities at the house reef are extended as a result of this. Additionally, the boat is constantly ready for operation and provides safety and a quick reaction in the case of emergency. Divers who would still like to dive together with a divemaster, or those who have less than 25 logged dives, can join our small diving groups for guided dives in the mornings and at noon.

The anchorage for the house reef boat and for our 2 quick-trip speed boats is located right at the jetty which enables guests to get easily on and off the boat. The quick-trip boats sail about 20 minutes to several high-end diving spots, exclusively used by Coraya Divers. These trips take place 5 times a day at different times.

Since the trips last about 2 hours at the most, including briefing and debriefing, they are particularly popular with our guests. On the whole, there are a bundle of reasons why you should not leave the hotels and their excellent service for all too long. The quick trips are of course scheduled to consider the opening hours of the children's club.

As always, your safety is an absolute priority at Coraya Divers: There is extra oxygen as well as first-aid kits available at the jetty.

Our team at the jetty will be happy to show you their typically Egyptian readiness to help.
You will see that the smile on their faces is certainly contagious!
